Morocco’s train services are operated by the ONCF (Office National des Chemins de Fer). The country offers a mix of high-speed, regional, and long-distance rail lines connecting major cities and regions.



Al Boraq (Casablanca ↔ Tangier)


  • Africa’s first high-speed train line.
  • Runs at speeds up to 320 km/h between Tangier and Kenitra, then continues on conventional tracks to Casablanca.
  • About 14 round trips daily.
  • Journey time is around 2 hours and 10 minutes.



TNR – Train Navette Rapide (Casablanca Suburban)


  • Fast shuttle trains between Casablanca and nearby cities.
  • Between Casablanca and Kenitra: trains every 30 minutes from early morning to evening.
  • Other connected routes:
  • Casablanca – Mohammed V Airport: trains run hourly.
  • Casablanca – El Jadida: every two hours.
  • Casablanca – Settat: around 34 trains per day, roughly one train every hour.



Grandes Lignes – Long-Distance Trains


ONCF operates conventional long-distance trains (with first and second-class options) linking major cities:


  • Casablanca to Fes: around 3 hours 20 minutes, with approximately 18 trains daily.
  • Marrakech to Fes: around 7 hours 10 minutes, with around 8 trains daily.
  • Marrakech to Tangier: about 9 hours 30 minutes, with 6 trains daily including a night train.
  • Casablanca to Oujda: around 10 hours, with 3 trains daily, including an overnight sleeper train.
  • Casablanca to Nador: roughly 8 hours 30 minutes for daytime trains, plus two night trains.
  • Tangier to Oujda (via Fes): about 10 hours for day trains and 10 hours 35 minutes for the night train, with one train of each type per day.


Night trains on these long routes offer couchettes (sleeping bunks) or private compartments for overnight comfort.
